Great Central Railway

is the UK's only double track, main line

heritage railway and it is the only place in the

world where full size steam engines can

be seen passing each other – just as it

was when steam ruled the rails.

Ex- LMS Class 5, 45407, headed a series of

Altrincham – Chester shuttles on the 4th May 2008 .

The first train of the day commenced at Crewe

and accessed Altrincham via the now freight only

Sandbach to Northwich line.
