You'll probably remember that the Dalesrail service in 2023 was cancelled. Along with many other bodies, we met with Northern Trains and had long discussions.

Effectively the replacement, the Yorkshire Dales Explorer has been running since summer 2024.

​

It provides a Saturdays Only service between Rochdale and Ribblehead via Manchester Victoria, Bolton, and Clitheroe. The service will operate year-round.

In May, the Ride2stride group are running two guided walks -

​

• Whalley to Clitheroe via Wiswell Moor and Nick o' Pendle (9 miles, moderate).

Southbound YDE deps Hellifield 11.30 arr Whalley 12.00 for start of walk.

Dep Clitheroe northbound YDE 16.38

• Horton-in-Ribblesdale to Ribblehead via Sulber Nick and Ingleborough Nature Reserve (7 miles, easy). Northbound YDE arr H-in-R 10.12 for 10.30 walk start.

Return from Ribblehead via southbound YDE 18.05.
