The Route

Here is a little information about the line’s stations (past and present), the traffic that uses it, and some of the features that passengers can see along the route.

Although the majority of the passenger service only runs as far as Clitheroe, the Yorkshire Dales Explorer service (two return trips on Saturdays) and freight uses the section beyond to Hellifield, where the line joins what soon becomes the Settle – Carlisle route.
